Finlands Prime Minister Blames Steve Jobs for saving the trees from humans and humans from dumb-phones

Hello Apple Friends

In one of the more bizare readings of this week, or possibly the last 1000 years, your call, CultOfMac.com brings to our attention a perplexing statement from Finlands Prime Minister: We blame Steve Jobs for saving the trees from humans, and the humans from dumb-phones.

Of course he worded it a bit different:

Speaking to Swedish financial newspaper Dagens Industri, Prime Minister Alexander Stubb has accused Apple’s late-founder Steve Jobs of crushing his country’s job market with two innovations that caught Finland completely off-guard.

“We had two pillars we stood on: one was the IT industry, the other one was the paper industry, both were affected by the arrival of Apple’s smartphone and tablet combo in the mid-2000s. Nalle Wahlroos, president of (Swedish bank) Nordea, described it quite well when he said the iPhone knocked out Nokia and the iPad knocked out the forestry”.

So unless no one has noticed yet, Finlands Prime Minister would like to make sure that you are fully aware, how Steve Jobs had the nerve to actually innovate, rather than let Nokia keep the world in the dark ages for another decade. And on top of that, he actually dared to kill the industry that was killing the trees.

My “sources" tells me that Alexander [Tree] Stubb also attempted to start a riot in Finland with the slogan “Steve Jobs Saved Finlands Trees”, but apparently most folks thought it was a good thing. Oh well, I guess it just goes to show, you have to be much smarter to make it as an activist, rather than a politician. Who knew?

CultOfMac.com comments at the end of their article:

"While it’s a bit harsh to blame Finland’s economic troubles entirely on Cupertino, it’s a reminder of why the kind of tech disruption Apple specializes in isn’t always good for those on the wrong side of it."

Except Mr. Tree Stubb was not so unfair, that he gave some of the credit for saving the trees and liberating the world from the dumb phone, to other tech companies. No. Instead he at least gave credit where credit was due. Because it was Steve Jobs who saved Finlands trees and liberated the world away from Finlands dumb-phones.

It was Steve who did it. Shame on him?

Luckily Mr. [Tree] Stubb notes that Finland is moving towards gaming, in the IT industry. Well at least the trees is not just a game anymore. Mr. Jobs apparently saved them.

So let this be a hard earned lesson to all of the Apple Community, next time you turn on that iPad or iPhone, remember you are supporting the trees instead of the dumb-phones, in Finland. Shame on you too. Or not.
